UFS Recreational: The start of a new beginning or the death of rolling?

As our industry is moving towards a faster progressing state of technology, Salomon has decided to make the UFS system available to the recreational skaters. What does this mean to us? The UFS system was original planned with the concept of the roller in mind. To help unify the old framing system which was filled with different dimensions n frame shapes. And to help us with the sole ability to customise our very own skates.

But now with the introduction of the UFS system to the recreational world, it wont be long till the SFS (suspension frame system) be available to the recre' world. What will become of the rolling industry in the years to come. For all I know we are in for an uncertain future.

Is making the UFS available to the recre world a good or bad thing?

I'm hyped to get a pair of rec frames for my skates so I can skate with the girlies at the beach! Also, I'm working on improving footwork skills (like slalom) but my skates are kinda slow for that.

Check this video out - it's freeride style, so not really aggressive, and not really recreational.

This is partly the kind of skating the new UFS recreational combo skates are aimed at.

its only if we're insecure bout our 'image' that the whole recce UFS thing would be a problem.

i mean....honestly, someone tell me how exactly can it lead to the death of rolling?

are we scared that we might get influenced into wearin spandex just because we share the same frames system?

I believe this will give a lot of in line skaters the chance to try out the different aspects of in line skating. Just like Nigel said, he can pop in a set of hockey set-up frames and play hockey with his aggro boots. And I also know of a few rollers who skate from their homes to their skate spots. They can use the recy set-up when they are travelling and then switch back to their aggro set-up when they are doing aggro. I am just wondering if any of the frame companies are going to come out with off-road frames. I believe this is one aspect of in line skating which has the potential to grow.
With the marketing of frames to the mass market, the money will surely pour into the industry. Let us just hope that the aggro companies do not forget that they are aggro companies and totally devote their efforts to the mass market.
The flexibility of owning multiple frames is something which bmx riders currently enjoy.
BMX riders can play street, park and vert on their bikes. When they please, they can remove their footpegs and play dirt.

You know what.. i think what the industry is doing now (Introducing UFS recre frames), is pretty dope. Think of it this way, it's like getting value for money for most people. Like most of us are able to like do recre with our aggros when we want to.. As in, we don't need to wear out our aggro wheels if we wanna just roll around.. ya? And prolly facilitate lotsa other stuff around us too... think about it.. =)
